How the game works

  1. One district a day. Every player in the world gets the same mystery U.S. House district — you see its shape and work from geographic and contextual clues.
  2. Six guesses. Pick a state first. Every miss tells you whether the answer borders your guess (hot) or lies farther away (cold), eliminating whole regions at a time.
  3. Nail the district. Once you have the state, choose the district number — then read the answer's full profile and come back tomorrow.

Why districts matter

All 435 seats in the U.S. House are decided district by district, and the lines are redrawn every ten years. How they're drawn shapes who runs, who wins, and which party controls the House — yet most Americans can't picture a single district's shape. Daily District, created by redistricting scholar Dr. Jonathan Cervas of Carnegie Mellon University and Jason Fierman of the Redistrict Network, makes learning them a daily habit.
